QUALITY OF AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT
As a manufacturer of automotive production equipment and tools, you are constantly obliged to demonstrate your ability to deliver quality to your customers. And there is no better way to do this than a certificate according to the specialized VDA volume 6.4, in Germany or abroad.
The standard comprises requirements for individual (bitte vom PM prüfen lassen, ob korrekt für Einzelhersteller) or series manufacturers of tools, plant and machinery, appliances, and testing and measuring equipment. A certification according to VDA 6.4 may be combined with one to ISO 9001.
VDA vol. 6.4 is part of the VDA 6.x series of standards and focuses expressly on the manufacturers of automotive production equipment and tools. The German standard was created in 1999 and thoroughly revised and adjusted to ISO 9001:2015 in June 2017, when the current third issue was published. VDA 6.4 covers a part of the automotive industry that even the new international automotive standard IATF 16949 does not address – making it particularly interesting for international manufacturers.
Your organization will undergo the classic DQS assessment process, starting with system analysis (Stage 1) through system audit (Stage 2) to certificate issue. After the annual surveillance audits, a recertification audit takes place after three years. This needs to be scheduled early enough to allow sufficient time to close non-conformities by implementing corrective actions (about eight weeks between the last audit day and expiration of the certificate). Possible follow-up audits need to be scheduled at least two weeks prior to the certificate’s expiration date.
