DQS is one of the world’s leading certification bodies for management systems and processes. It has a reliable record of driving sustainable success, with 80 offices in over 60 countries as well as 2,500 auditors and experts. 
 

DQS GmbH

DQS was founded on 1 February, 1985, by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) and the German Association for Quality (DGQ). In subsequent years, the German industry associations HDB, Spectaris, VDMA, VCI and ZVEI became additional shareholders of the company. In March 2008, the management system division of the US corporation Underwriters Laboratories Inc. merged with DQS. At the same time, Underwriters Laboratories became another shareholder of DQS Holding GmbH, which then assumed global control of the newly founded group of companies.

The founding of DQS took place in close connection with the genesis of the ISO 9000 family of standards, the first draft of which was published in 1985. The founding shareholders defined the purpose of DQS as the independent and neutral assessment of the quality ability of organizations, in order to strengthen their competitive capability.

Today, DQS GmbH, with its main office in Frankfurt am Main and regional offices in Berlin, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Munich, is the largest subsidiary of DQS Holding GmbH, contributing most of the group’s turnover.

DQS Holding GmbH  in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, is the group parent and manages the development of DQS offices in over 60 countries. With more than 120 million euros in consolidated revenues and 63,000 certified management systems worldwide, it is one of the top 10 providers in its industry. The DQS Group’s service range includes audits and certifications according to some 200 standards and company-specific requirements in virtually every sector of the economy. 

DQS certificates are recognized worldwide thanks to accreditations and respected partners in the world’s leading business markets. Certifications of multinational corporations are supported by mutual certificate recognition within IQNet,((Link)) The International Certification Network. DQS is a founder and full member of IQNet.

DQS Medizinprodukte GmbH

DQS Medizinprodukte GmbH  was spun off in 2008 as a wholly owned subsidiary of DQS Holding GmbH. Its history began in 1995, when ZLG/ZLS certified DQS’s Center for Excellence in Medical Products as an accredited body. It has thus been certifying medical devices and management systems in the healthcare industry for more than 20 years. Today, the company serves more than 1,200 clients worldwide and drives their long-term success through value-added assurance services, specializing in the proven auditing of quality/risk management systems and medical device safety. 

DQS BIT GmbH

DQS BIT GmbH provides certification services for the cutting-edge education and information technology sectors. A wholly owned subsidiary of DQS GmbH based in Bad Wörishofen, Germany, it specializes in certifications for industry-specific IT and education standards in the German market. With over 1,400 provider certifications and approx. 10,000 program certifications based on the German Accreditation and Certification Regulation for Employment Promotion (AZAV), DQS BIT GmbH is one of Germany’s largest “Qualified Experts” and thus fully authorized to issue qualified opinions under the German Social Code. All certifications are issued in accordance with ISO 17021 and ISO 17065 accreditations.

DQS CFS GmbH is the DQS Group’s specialist for sustainability and consumer safety auditing and certification. Established in Frankfurt am Main in 2012, DQS CFS GmbH is your one-stop partner for audit solutions with a team of seasoned auditors and a broad spectrum of services. Its integral approach combines auditing, certification, inspection and evaluation to enable organizations to succeed sustainably. Its reputation for competence and dependability is backed by certifications and accreditations for all key standards, rules and regulations. 


Management

DQS GmbH’s senior management consists of Stefan Heinloth (Chairman and Managing Director) and Markus Bleher (Managing Director).

Steering Committee

Next to the Shareholders Committee the Steering Committee is DQS’s most important governing body. It supports DQS’s senior management with fundamental rules concerning certifications and provides valuable policy guidance since its members represent various stakeholder groups.

The Steering Committee also constitutes DQS’s “committee for safeguarding impartiality” (CSI) according to Clause 6.2 ISO/IEC 17021 and, as such, contributes significantly to market acceptance of DQS certificates.

During all assessment and certification activities, the management of DQS GmbH is strictly committed to impartiality as an essential element in the conduct of audits and certifications. Potential conflict of interest is managed in order to assure the objectivity of all certification activities.

Corporate policies and guidelines of the DQS Group have been established and implemented accordingly.
